The first trailer for the long-awaited and highly-anticipated epic science fiction, Dune, based on author Frank Herbert's acclaimed 1965 novel of the same name is finally here. The first of a planned two-part adaptation, which will cover roughly the first half of the book, Dune directed by two-time Oscar-nominated director Denis Villeneuve is slated to be released in theaters on December 18, 2020. 

Featuring a massive multi-star cast, Dune includes names like Timothée Chalamet as the film's lead playing the character Paul Atreides, the scion of House Atreides, Aquaman fame Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho, the swordmaster of House Atreides and one of Paul's mentors, followed by Avengers: Endgame's Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, the weapons master of House Atreides and one of Paul's mentors, Spider-Man: Homecoming actress Zendaya as Chani, Guardians of the Galaxy films' Dave Bautista as Glossu Rabban, with Oscar Isaac as Duke Leto Atreides, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Stellan Skarsgård as Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, Stephen McKinley Henderson as Thufir Hawat, David Dastmalchian as Piter De Vries, Chang Chen as Dr. Wellington Yueh, Sharon Duncan-Brewster as Dr. Liet-Kynes, Charlotte Rampling as Gaius Helen Mohiam and Javier Bardem as Stilgar. 

The Dune trailer teases plenty in terms of quality science-fiction and mystery with full-out hair-raising action, while also giving us a glimpse of the stellar star cast. The film looks to be epic in terms of scale and production with vast sets and grand imagery and the cast appearing in lavish costumes. 

The first of the planned two films, a sequel, although not yet greenlit, will reportedly cover the remaining half of Frank Herbert's book as the upcoming venture releasing December worldwide will cover the first half of the novel. Furthermore, a spin-off television series titled Dune: The Sisterhood, is also under development with director Denis Villeneuve’s involvement and will be airing on WarnerMedia's streaming service, HBO Max.
