Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat has been receiving backlash from a lot of people for his comment about the dressing of women. In his latest statement, Tirath Singh had reportedly said that he does not have a problem with women wearing jeans but objected to the people who wore ripped jeans. He was reportedly quoted as saying, "Showing bare knees by wearing ripped jeans just to look like rich kids is the value given now which is just a race towards westernisation when the Western world today is following us. Ripped jeans pave the way for societal breakdown and is a bad example parents set for children".

This comment from the Uttarakhand Chief Minister has been condemned by ace Tamil actor Sathyaraj's daughter, Divya Sathyaraj. Opposing the comment made by Tirath Singh, Divya Sathyaraj said, "A lot of people advised me against posting pictures in shorts and ripped jeans on my Instagram handle, stating that an aspiring politician should be seen in a cotton saree. As a Periyarist, I strongly oppose Mr. Tirath Singh's statement. Every woman should have the freedom to wear what she wants. I will proudly wear super-torn jeans. Stop telling us what to wear".

Divya Sathyaraj is an aspiring politician and a celebrity nutrionist. She is also the founder of the Mahilmadhi Movement.
