Acclaimed director SP Jhananathan breathed his last on March 14 and his demise broke the hearts of many film buffs in Tamil Nadu. People across the state shared their condolence messages on social media and the visuals from the funeral event did make everyone emotional. Many leading personalities from the film industry including Vijay Sethupathi, Jayam Ravi, director Vetri Maaran, Ameer, Karu Pazhaniappan, Aari, Cheran, Sai Dhanshika, D Imman, and others attended the funeral event and paid their final respects to the ace filmmaker. It is just three days since Jhananathan died and his family has unfortunately faced another loss.

Jhananathan's younger sister, Lakshmi passed away last night (March 16) due to a heart attack. The news was also shared by Balamurali Varman, who is a scriptwriter and director in Tamil cinema. Sharing the news Balamurali wrote, "அண்ணன் ஜனநாதன் அவர்களின் தங்கை லட்சுமி நேற்று இரவு காலமானார். இன்று 12 மணியளவில் இறுதி மரியாதை.". Balamurali's post is loosely translated in English as, "Jhananathan's sister Lakshmi passed away last night. The final rites and cremation to take place today at 12". The news has shocked several people in the industry and it is indeed unfortunate that Jhananathan's family has faced two unfortunate losses in a gap of two days.

Details regarding Lakshmi's family are not known. Lakshmi was seen in Jhananathan's funeral event and it is unfortunate that she is no more alive. Jhananathan was not married and it was his brothers and sisters who were his family. On March 11, Jhananathan was rushed to Apollo Hospitals after he fell unconscious at his office. He had taken a break from the editing works of his next film and had gone to his office where he fell unconscious. SP Jhananathan's next film, Laabam is due for release and the film is in the final stages of post production. Jhananathan's team will now be focused on completing the remaining works and make the film see the light of day in theatres.

Laabam features Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles, with Jagapathi Babu, Ramesh Thilak, Kalaiyarasan, Sai Dhanshika, and others playing supporting characters. Laabam is reportedly planned to release in April. For now, find below the Facebook post of director Balamurali Varman, about the demise of SP Jhananathan's sister here:
