According to the latest reports, popular Tamil director SP Jhananathan is critically ill and he is being examined by a medical team of Doctors. If reports are to be believed, SP Jhananathan is said to be brain dead and the director's close ones are praying for a miracle to happen. As per the reports, director SP Jhananathan was busy with the editing works of his next film, Laabam, yesterday (March 11). The director had paused the editing works and had gone to his office for afternoon lunch. However, he did not return in the expected time and as a result, his assistants went to his office to check on him.

Only when they entered the office, they reportedly found SP Jhananathan lying down unconsciously. Immediately, he was rushed to the Apollo Hospitals in Greams Road, where he was declared brain dead. However, senior neuro surgeons from the hospital are said to be examining him. Jhananathan's well wishers and the people of Tamil Nadu are praying for his recovery and everyone is hoping for a miracle to happen. Several notable actors, producers, and technicians have been sharing their prayers on social media.

Producer Dhananjayan of BOFTA Film Institute took to his Twitter page and wrote, "Very disturbed about the news on Dir. #SPJhananathan sir ...wish & pray he recovers from the terrible illness. My good friend for many years ". It is said that Vijay Sethupathi, director Ameer, director Karu Palaniappan visited the hospital to enquire about Jhananathan's health condition. Jhananathan is known for directing movies like Iyarkai, E, Peranmai, Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai, etc.

His latest directorial, Laabam is gearing up for its release and is in the final stages of post production. The shooting of the film was completely wrapped up a few weeks before. Laabam features Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles, while Jagapathi Babu, Ramesh Thilak, Kalaiyarasan, Sai Dhansika, Daniel Annie Pope, and others play supporting roles. Laabam is produced by Vijay Sethupathi Productions in association with P Arumugakumar's 7Cs Entertainment Pvt Ltd. Jhananathan's debut directorial, Iyarkai had won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil. Jhananathan is also known for his political ideologies and strong communism thoughts.
