Director Rajumurugan’s filmmaking career kicked off on a high note with Cuckoo, which went on to attain huge critical acclaim upon its release. The director struck major success in 2016 with his second directorial, Joker, which went on to win the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil. In the meantime, director Rajumurugan had gotten himself involved in a controversy after his recent comments at the audio launch of director Kalanjiyam’s Munthiri Kaadu came under sharp criticism from Rajinikanth and Vijay fans.

Speaking at the audio launch, Rajumurugan while talking about Munthiri Kaadu’s hero had stated that he too should be given a title when there are people, who have been given titles like ‘Superstar’ and ‘Ilayathalapathy’, so as to allow him to get more popular. The speech soon went on to receive a lot of negative feedback for which director Rajumurugan took to his Twitter page and stated he regrets his poor choice of words while adding both Rajinikanth and Vijay have attained a big name in cinema with their dedication and hard work over the years.

As for Rajumurugan’s upcoming project, Gypsy, starring Jiiva in the lead role, the film is waiting for a release soon and had quite a lot of appreciation for its music composed by Santhosh Narayanan.
