Acclaimed Filipino filmmaker, scriptwriter, and actor Peque Gallaga died on Thursday, May 7 at the age of 76. Gallaga lived with his wife Madie in Bacolod City. He was also a father to a lifestyle writer and screenwriter Wanggo. His other children are Gines, Michelle, Datu and Jubal. He passed away in a hospital in Bacolod City due to pneumonia. Gallaga was brought to the hospital on May 5, 2020 and was kept ICU for 2 days and he eventually passed away on the 7th of May. 
 
Liway director Kip Oebanda took to his social media to share a few words about Gallaga - "one of the greatest of all time." Gallaga spent his elementary and high school years at De La Salle University in Manila, then finished his bachelor's in commerce and liberal arts at the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod. He taught theater and film at the University of St. La Salle. Upon moving back to Manila, he got involved in television musicals and eventually co-directed the film Binhi with Butch Perez.
