As we all know, Silambarasan TR and Gautham Karthik would be acting together in the Tamil remake of Mufti (superhit Kannada film that starred Shiva Rajkumar and Srimuralii in the lead roles) and recently, the makers unveiled the first look poster of the film. Titled as Pathu Thala, this film will be directed by Obeli N Krishna of Sillunu Oru Kaadhal fame. Initially, the film was supposed to be helmed by Narthan who directed the original version, but since the project took quite some time to take off, Narthan walked out and was replaced by Obeli N Krishna. While Silambarasan TR will be seen as an underworld don in a rugged makeover, Gautham Karthik will play the role of a cop.

The most exciting and highlight aspect of the movie is that it will have music scored by A.R.Rahman. The legendary composer’s addition has given a massive boost to the team of Pathu Thala. Rahman was the music composer of Krishna’s debut directorial - Sillunu Oru Kaadhal and the same combination is all set to repeat again. Interestingly, Rahman has also had a good success ratio with STR through movies like Vinnaithaandi Varuvayaa and Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada. Priya Bhavani Shankar plays the female lead and she will be seen as Gautham Karthik’s pair in the film. Kalaiyarasan and Asuran fame Teejay are also a part of the star cast. The list does not end here.

Yes! There is one more new addition to the film’s cast and this one is probably the most exciting addition. Ace director Gautham Vasudev Menon has been roped in to act in an important role in Pathu Thala. He will play one of the villains in the movie and it is said that he will have some interesting combination scenes with Simbu. Gautham Menon took everyone by surprise through his impressive performance in Dulquer Salmaan’s Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal and later in Fahadh Faasil’s Trance. The fans enjoyed the new dimension of the filmmaker and it looks like the makers of Pathu Thala have made the right decision.

The film’s producer, KE Gnanavel Raja (of Studio Green) confirmed the news in his recent exclusive interview with Galatta Media. Talking about it, he said, “We haven’t made the announcement yet. Gautham Menon sir is acting in the film and he plays the villain,”. Interestingly, director Krishna is a former associate of Gautham Menon.
