Dhanush will be returning to Hindi cinema with Atrangi Re, directed by Aanand L Rai who introduced Dhanush in Bollywood. This film is a multistarrer that features Dhanush, Akshay Kumar and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles. The first schedule took place at Varanasi with Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan and a few important scenes were shot in that schedule. However, due to the pandemic, the further schedules were cancelled. According to latest official updates, it has been revealed that the second schedule of Atrangi Re will begin in October.

This schedule will happen at Madurai with Dhanush and Sara and all the necessary precautionary measures will be taken. After completing the Madurai schedule, the team will shoot in Mumbai and Delhi where Akshay Kumar will join the set. Along with this update, the makers have released a new picture from the shooting spot and it has come as a pleasant surprise for the fans. Dhanush’s youthful makeover is neat and he looks great.

As per the reports, Dhanush plays a Tamil guy in this film. Director Aanand L Rai was quoted as saying, “During this lockdown, I've taken out a lot of time to prepare for the upcoming schedules of 'Atrangi Re'. I'm really excited to start the next schedule, which is planned to happen in Madurai, October onwards, and then with Akshay for a month in Delhi and Mumbai, with all safety precautions in place, of course”.

Atrangi Re will be one of the first big films to be shot in real live locations as the majority of the production houses and directors have opted to shoot in indoor studio setups due to the pandemic. Produced by T-Series, in association with Colour Yellow Productions and Cape Of Good Films, Atrangi Re has music scored by A.R.Rahman and this happens to be the legendary composer's next biggie in Hindi after the recent Dil Bechara.

Himanshu Sharma has penned the story of this romantic drama which has cinematography by Pankaj Kumar. The film was initially scheduled to release for next year's Valentines Day, on February 14, but due to the current change of plans, the release will be pushed to a later date.

Apart from Atrangi Re, Dhanush has a lot of other interesting projects including Jagame Thandhiram, Karnan, D43 (Karthick Naren), a film each with directors Ramkumar (Mundasupatti and Ratsasan fame) and Vetri Maaran and all these projects are in different stages of production.
