Blockbuster Hindi film director Aanand L. Rai revealed on Thursday on his Twitter page that he has tested positive for COVID-19. The hit filmmaker, known for his Tanu Weds Manu films, including Raanjhanaa with Dhanush and his last directorial Zero starring Shah Rukh Khan, informed saying he doesn't have any symptoms and has been feeling fine. He added that he has quarantined himself as per the instructions of the authorities, while requesting all those who had come in contact with him over the past few days to isolate themselves and follow the government protocols.

Aanand L. Rai tweeted, "I have tested covid positive today.Just  wanted to inform everyone that I don’t feel any symptoms & I feel fine. I’m quarantining as instructed by authorities.Anyone wh has come in contact with me recently is advised to quarantine & follow d govt protocols.Thank you for support". Post his tweet, worried fans from around the country have been extending words of encouragement and have wished him a speedy recovery. It is to be noted that Aanand L. Rai had completed filming for his upcoming film, Atrangi Re, starring Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles, earlier this week. The team had completed shooting for the film post Christmas, with pictures of a wrap party that included Aanand L. Rai, Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan going viral on social media.

Touted to be a romantic family drama, Atrangi Re is incidentally the second collaboration between Aanand L. Rai and Dhanush after the director introduced the National Award-winning actor to Hindi audiences in Raanjhanaa in 2013. There is massive excitement surrounding the upcoming film as it also includes music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman, who previously delivered chart-buster songs in Raanjhanaa. The film has a screenplay by Himanshu Sharma and is being produced jointly by T-Series, Colour Yellow Productions and Cape of Good Films banners, with the makers announcing it to come out as a Valentine's Day 2021 theatrical release. Fans are looking forward to Atrangi Re with huge expectations as it marks Dhanush's comeback to Hindi cinema, with Aanand L. Rai also pinning hopes on redeeming himself after his Zero with Shah Rukh Khan didn't fare well both commercially and critically.
