Echolocation is the method of detecting objects in one’s immediate environment by sensing sounds that bounce off these surfaces. People trained to orientate with echolocation can interpret the sound waves reflected by nearby objects, accurately identifying their location & size.

Daniel Kish is an American expert in human echolocation and the president of world access for the blind, an NGO that trains the visually impaired in this art.

“If you ever treated Daniel Kish like a blind man, he would really be upset. Angry even. Just being around him is very inspiring. I am really grateful to Vijay for coming up with such a plot and giving me the opportunity to work with someone like Daniel,” says Vikram. The actor who recently worked with director Vijay in the touching tale of an autistic man in Deiva Thiirumagal, was keen to work in another film directed by him. Vikram says he wanted the entire core team of Deiva Thiirumagal to come back together and make a movie that was completely different from their earlier film. And when Vijay presented him with the story of officer Shiva, there was no thinking twice. And likewise when it came to Disney-UTV Motion Pictures, they too had no doubt in their mind that this was a story with a difference and that Vikram would pull it off with finesse.

“Yes. Of course, Vikram is the reason for us to take up such an ambitious venture. Chiyaan Vikram has given us a fantastic film in Deiva Thiirumagal and it was our desire to give another hit with him soon and hence took up this project,” says G. Dhananjayan on behalf of Disney-UTV Motion Pictures.
