The Tamil Nadu government has on Tuesday issued a statement informing the people of the state to wear masks each time they step out of their homes in the wake of the coronavirus, which has affected over 10,000 people across the nation while claiming more than 300 lives to date. Likewise, the Tamil Nadu police has in a statement now said that people who venture out of their homes without wearing a mask during the ongoing lockdown period will be subjected to a penalty of Rs. 500/-. The Rs. 500 fine will be collected from people either walk on the roads or travel on their vehicles without their masks on with the TN government now completely focused on bringing down the possibility of people contracting the disease.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi too during his address to the nation on Tuesday urged citizens to adhere to wearing home-made face covers and masks as a safety precaution against the COVID-19 virus. The number of positive cases in Tamil Nadu stands at 1,104 while 58 people being discharged and 11 succumbing to their deaths with the government aiming to see a decrease in those numbers in the days ahead due to the nationwide lockdown extension now in effect till May 3.
