Commissioner of Revenue Administration and Special Officer appointed to the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) J Radhakrishnan issued a statement on Tuesday saying thermal scan testing will be conducted across every household in Chennai city from May 20. The thermal scan will be conducted under the "Chennai Fights Back COVID" campaign in order to detect whether any of the residents of Chennai have been infected by the coronavirus.

Likewise, Tamil Nadu Health Minister Dr C. Vijayabaskar issued a statement on Tuesday saying an investigation is already underway to find out the reason for the rise and fall in the number of positive cases while adding that stopping the spread of the coronavirus can be daunting task in a city like Chennai considering it has a population of over 85 lakh people.

On the other hand, the Tamil Nadu government has been praised by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) for its efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus. ICMR officials Dr. Manoj Murhekar and Dr. Prabhdeep Kaur had extended their wishes and greeted Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami at his office in Chennai earlier today.
