A 50-year-old man, who had tested positive for the coronavirus, reportedly committed suicide on Monday at the Emergency and Trauma Care Centre in the Victoria Hospital campus in Bengaluru. The incident had apparently taken place at around 08:30AM with the senior individual testing positive for COVID-19 on April 24 after suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI). He is said to have jumped from the third floor of the Trauma Care Centre on to the first floor shed. The man, who also was suffering from hypertension and renal disorder, was brought to the Victoria Hospital two days back and had undergone dialysis once before with another dialysis scheduled on Monday.

Karnataka has as of 08:00AM on Monday a total of 511 positive coronavirus cases with 20 people reported to have succumbed to the fatal disease and a total of 188 recovered and discharged so far. The state has seen a considerable increase in the number of recovered cases as 24 people had gotten discharged on Sunday making it the highest for a single-day with the day also seeing the lowest increase in the number of new COVID-19 positive cases as only three people were infected by the virus. Among the 24 people who were discharged in Karnataka on Sunday, Bengaluru saw the highest numbers as eight people had been sent back home after their recovery.
