Haryana on Friday resumed inter-district bus services in order to enable a smooth movement for the people who are stuck in different parts of the state as a result of the nationwide coronavirus lockdown, which began on March 25. Haryana has become the first Indian state to resume bus services within the state since the country went into lockdown mode and is incidentally also the first major indication of relaxations that are set to come in a phased manner up next.

The buses operating in Haryana will only stop at their end destinations with no other stops being taken in between on its route with the tickets being sold online. As many as 29 routes were initially fixed for the bus services to resume of which services on nine routes were suspended due to no bookings. Buses from eight depots made it to their destinations in Haryana on several routes on Day 1 with 196 passengers and the state's roadways department generating a revenue of Rs. 42,580. It has been mandatory for the buses to run without any air-conditioner with social distancing as well being maintained as only 30 passengers will be allowed to travel in the vehicles, which each have around 52 seats.
