Coming soon: Indian Music Awards!

India is truly rich in music, but we have no music awards, except the MTV music awards which have been discontinued some time ago! Music is only a part of any film award so far and the situation is going to change for the better! India will soon have its very own music awards on the lines of the Grammys.

Hub Entertainment, formed by Pranay Anthwal, Jatish Varma, Sameer Dixit and UK-based Shokat Babul, is taking an initiative to host the Indian Music Awards, which will recognize several categories and all genres, ranging from Sufi, Carnatic, folk music and Rabindra Sangeet, apart from film music.

"We started thinking about Indian Music Awards in August and have met several organizations who have been working in a particular genre for years together. With their help, we will set up the categories and nominations," Pranay Anthwal said.

The Indian Music Awards event is scheduled to take place in February next year and the organizers intend to incorporate aspects similar to Western musical award ceremonies in the desi version. Also, both national and international rock groups may be roped in to perform at the event.
