India’s First Celebrity Badminton League (CBL) - Season 1 was launched along with the four different teams here today. This season, four teams will face off for the trophy--each team owner is responsible for a franchise that represents the Kollywood, Mollywood, Sandalwood and Tollywood film industry. Apart from the Chennai league where the tournament will be launched and inaugurated on September 17, 2016, matches will also be hosted across the other southern centres such as Kochi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
The teams include Chennai Rockers, Kerala Royals, Karnataka Alps and Tollywood Thunders. CEO of Galatta Media Mr. Venkatesh CR, is the proud owner of Chennai Rockers. He is also the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Dot Com Infoway, Adatha, and GMASA. Actor Arya would captain the Kollywood badminton team.
Jayaram would lead Kerala Royals, Dignath for Sandalwood and Sudheer Babu for Tollywood. The total cost of hosting the celebrity league spanning the four states, with the finals to be played at Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), would exceed a sum of 15 crore INR.
