Earlier this morning (February 20), a section of media had reported that Superstar Rajinikanth has agreed to act in a new film under the production of Boney Kapoor for his banner of Bayview Projects LLP. Reports also added that Arunraja Kamaraj will be directing the film. It was said that Boney Kapoor and Arunraja met Rajinikanth recently at Poes Garden for a narration and the legendary actor gave his nod for the project, impressed over the story. This news started to spread on social media making the fans excited, garnering wide attention. However, it turns out that the news is not completely true.

The news about the meeting seems to be true, but a possible collaboration of a project is yet to be confirmed. Boney Kapoor took to his official Twitter page to share his clarification on the news. Calling Rajini as his good friend, Boney informed that the two of them meet regularly. He also added that he will be the first person to announce the project if it materializes. Boney Kapoor's clarification tweet on Thalaivar 170 read, "Rajni Garu has been a friend for years. We meet regularly and keep exchanging ideas. Whenever we finalise a film to work together on, I shall be the first person to announce it. You will not have to get such ‘leaked ideas’".

So, it looks like we will have to wait for a few more months to get a clarity on Thalaivar 170. Rajinikanth's next outing will be directed by Nelson Dilipkumar who is currently busy with Thalapathy Vijay's Beast. Produced by Sun Pictures, Rajinikanth's new film, Thalaivar 169 will have music by Anirudh. On the other hand, Boney Kapoor is busy with the release works of the highly anticipated action thriller, Valimai starring Ajith Kumar. Valimai is slated to release this Thursday, February 24. Post Valimai, Boney Kapoor and Ajith will be teaming up for one more film, AK 61 which will also be helmed by H Vinoth.
