A few days ago, on 24th of May, a renewed set of rules were circulated by the Tamil Nadu theatre and multiplex owner's association to its council members. Prior to issuing the rules, there was a meeting held where in discussions happened between the movie distributors and the producers. With the raise in maintenance charges, property tax and staff's salaries, the expenditure of the administrations are expanding.

A set of regulations were issued stating that, from the top tier heroes (Rajinikanth, Ajith and Vijay) films, A centre theatres will provided 60% and other centers, 65% of the first week's collections for the producers. As for the second tier heroes like Suriya, Dhanush, Simbu, Jayam Ram, Sivakarthikeyan and Vijay Sethupathi, 55% for A centre theatres  and 60% for others. And for the other actors, 50% for A centre theatres and 55% for others

And on 28th May, "Iyakunar Imayam" Bharathirajaa delivered a press note which said that if this rule were to be practiced, the class of producers who are already incurring loss will vanish in thin air. He also added that until the presidents of the councils are elected, the new decisions made are to be kept on hold.
