In tragic news, popular Bengali actress Pallabi Dey was found dead in her apartment in Garfa, Kolkata, on Sunday, May 15. She was 21. According to reports, Pallabi was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her flat and was later rushed to the MR Bangur hospital in Kolkata, where she was pronounced dead. Known best for starring in the popular Bengali television show Mon Mane Na, the news of the young actress' sudden demise has come as a massive shock to fans and the Bengali entertainment industry. 

Reports state that the police have launched a probe into Pallabi's death and her body has been sent for post-mortem. The initial investigation has cited that the actress might have died by suicide. "Prima facie, it seems that it is a case of suicide. However, the final conclusion can be made only after the post-mortem report is available. We have started an investigation after filing a case of unnatural death," a police official said, as quoted by news agency IANS. It has also been reported that Pallabi had been staying with her live-in partner, Sagnik Chakraborty in the rental accommodation in South Kolkata since April 24. 

Pallabi Dey's family has raised suspicion about the actress' death and is questioning her live-in partner Sagnik Chakraborty. However, Sagnik's parents have gone on to deny the accusations and have informed that the couple didn't face any problems in their relationship. Sagnik's mother, while addressing the media, as quoted by Etimes, said, "They used to live together. Although we were not in complete support, we allowed them since they are grown-ups. A few times I had asked Sagnik to stay elsewhere and start living together once they are married. They didn’t have any major issues. I don’t know what happened." Pallabi's friends and colleagues in the Bengali television industry are paying their condolences on social media and have expressed their shock at the news of her death.
