Azhagarsamiyin Kuthirai won two awards at the National Awards that were announced today. The movie won the Best Popular movie providing wholesome entertainment and Appukutty won the Best Supporting Actor award.

The movie is based on a short story by the same name. Directed by Suseenthiran, the movie is about Azharsamy and his lost horse. The movie was also selected to be screened at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival.
