Released amidst massive hype and excitement, the comicbook superhero action film, Avengers: Endgame, the sequel to last year’s blockbuster, Avengers: Infinity War, took a blockbuster start at the box office after its release worldwide on April 26.

Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, Avengers: Endgame jointly directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo is the 22nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and features names like Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Bradley Cooper and Josh Brolin reprising their roles from last year’s Avengers: Infinity War, which went on to collect over $2 billion globally.

Avengers: Endgame also sees the characters of Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Tom Hiddleston, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt, Letitia Wright and Evangeline Lilly getting resurrected and making a comeback in an eye-popping manner after getting killed off in Avengers: Infinity War.

Meanwhile, with the film 11 days into its theatrical run across the world, Avengers: Endgame has now been declared to be the fastest ever film ever to enter the $2 billion club at the worldwide box office. Incidentally, the film has now earned the distinction of becoming the second-biggest film release ever while also knocking out James Cameron’s epic romance disaster film, Titanic, from the second spot in the list of the highest-grossing films of all time

Avengers: Endgame is now in hot pursuit of James Cameron’s science fiction action adventure film, Avatar, which stands in the number one position in worldwide box office collections with over $2.7 billion. The 2009 blockbuster also went on to accomplish the feat of hitting the $2 billion mark at the box office in a span of 47 days.

Based on the stunning response Avengers: Endgame has seen and is continuing to receive, it looks like the film surpassing Avatar’s nearly a decade long record at the top spot is highly likely despite upcoming big releases namely Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, Aladdin and Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
