The worldwide blockbuster, Avatar, has gone on to become a staple for studios, production houses and filmmakers in Hollywood with the action science-fiction adventure film going on to collect over $2.7 billion in global box office collections making it the highest-grossing film of all time.

James Cameron, the man behind Avatar, has since then announced there will be four upcoming films as a follow-up to the first installment released in 2009 with Avatar 2 scheduled to hit screens on December 18, 2020 and Avatar 3 coming out in theatres on December 17, 2021.

With high expectations already, Academy Award winner James Cameron had recently revealed that Avatar 2 will be set eight years after the events of the first film with Sam Worthington as Jake Sully and Zoe Saldana as Neytiri now parents to an 8-year-old daughter.

The Titanic director went on to further reveal a specific scene in Avatar 2 from the perspective of the 8 year old daughter watching her parents get into a heated argument, which James Cameron has described as a “critical” point in the overall “emotional rollercoaster” storyline.

James also stated that filming on Sam Worthington, who reprises his lead role, has especially gone through a lot as he’s done Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 back to back and in the process had to dive into a few “dark places”.

James Cameron, who is also producing the sixth Terminator film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, then added that Avatar 2 includes motion capture scenes that were wrapped up with filming on live-action scenes set to begin, which will take nearly five months and includes work on Avatar 3 as well.

Meanwhile, the hype for the franchise is scaling upwards as a few potential titles had leaked out not long back for the next four films which include: Avatar 2 as Avatar: The Way Of Water, Avatar 3 as Avatar: The Seed Bearer, Avatar 4 as Avatar: The Tulkun Rider and Avatar 5 as Avatar: The Quest For Eywa.

Being made jointly by 20th Century Fox and Lightstorm Entertainment, Avatar 2 will see Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana reprise their roles from Avatar with Oscar winning actress Kate Winslet joining the cast in a major supporting role.
