The highest-grossing film till date, 20th Century Fox’s Avatar, released in 2009 still holds the top spot despite countless films coming from Hollywood and across the world since then.

A James Cameron directorial, the science-fiction action adventure film went on to gross over $2.7 billion in global box office collections and has as many as four sequels planned to be released in the next 6 years.

As known already, the first of the four Avatar sequels, Avatar 2, will be hitting screens on December 18, 2020 followed by Avatar 3 coming out in theatres on December 17, 2021 with Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Kate Winslet among others in the lead roles.

Meanwhile, actress Zoe Saldana who plays the character Neytiri in Avatar, went on to recently reveal why the upcoming sequels took over a decade to be made saying the first film itself was a big undertaking and took many years to be made.

She went on to state the same amount of time was also put for the sequels to come together while adding director James Cameron had other projects he was committed to and required time to work on the films' scripts. Furthermore, she said the filmmaker wanted to be sure to create a story that was headed in the right direction.

Zoe Saldana also went on to talk about returning to the mammoth universe created by James Cameron after wrapping up her portions for Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 saying she feels lucky to get the opportunity to play Neytiri as it is her favorite character she’s played till date.

She added saying she and Sam Worthington as Jake Sully have many foes to battle than they ever could have imagined in the forthcoming Avatar films while teasing fans that director James Cameron has come up with a story that is going to remain etched in people’s memories for a long time to come.

It must be noted that despite no official statement yet on the titles for the Avatar sequels, there were leaks regarding the next four films' titles that are as follows: Avatar 2 - The Way of Water, Avatar 3 - The Seed Bearer, Avatar 4 - The Tulkun Rider, Avatar 5 - The Quest for Eywa
