Asuran marks the fourth outing for the blockbuster combo of Dhanush and Vetri Maaran and the film is bankrolled by one of the leading producers Kalaipuli S Thanu under his V Creations banner. Asuran has popular Malayalam actress Manju Warrier as the lady lead marking her long-awaited Tamil debut. The film also has Abhirami, Teejay Arunasalam, Prakash Raj, Pasupathy, Yogi Babu, Aadukalam Naren, Guru Somasundaram, Balaji Sakthivel, Subramania Siva, Thalaivasal Vijay and Ken Karunas in other important roles. GV Prakash Kumar is scoring the music for the film. Asuran is based on the novel Vekkai by Poomani. Asuran has huge expectations among fans and movie buffs as the duo of Dhanush and Vetrimaran has given cult classics whenever they join hands.

The trailer begins with a fierce older looking Dhanush making an entrance with a sickle in hand as a voice questions about a gruesome murder that has happened in the village. The trailer shifts back and forth showing glimpses of a younger-looking Dhanush and the incidents that happened in his life. Dhanush’s wife played by Manju Warrier and son Chidambaram played by Ken Karunas are also seen in the very beginning of the trailer. The trailer also shows glimpses of actors Prakash Raj, Pasupathy, Pawanare, Teejey and other important characters while Dhanush is seen fighting people who are chasing him.

At the later part, older Dhanush advises his son that education is the only thing that cannot be taken away from a person. Some spine-chilling murdering shots are shown as Dhanush slashes his opponents with sickles and the trailer ends with Dhanush's face splattered in blood. The one-minute- trailer is intriguing and filled with violence.
