Leading Tamil actor Arya, who is riding high on the success of his last two films, Sarpatta Parambarai under Pa. Ranjith's direction and Aranmanai 3 with Sundar. C, was recently announced to be joining hands for the second time with filmmaker Shakti Soundar Rajan after their Teddy, which released on DisneyPlus Hotstar earlier this year. The upcoming film, which was up until now being called under the tentative title Arya 33, has now been announced to be titled as Captain

Captain was launched with a formal pooja on October 25 in Chennai, with the film's cast also announced to include Jagame Thandhiram heroine Aishwarya Lekshmi playing the female lead opposite to Arya. Being produced by Arya under his The Show People banner in association with Think Studios, the film also includes actress Simran playing a pivotal character, while Kavya Shetty, Thyagarajan, Harish Uthaman, Gokul, and Bharath Raj among others have been cast in major supporting roles, with D. Imman coming on board for the music. Taking to Twitter, Arya shared the Captain title announcement poster of Captain and tweeted, "Once again teaming up with My Favourite Person, Director nd brother @ShaktiRajan for #Captain." Arya and Shakti Soundar Rajan will be looking to one up with Captain after their Teddy, which reportedly witnessed a phenomenal viewership on DisneyPlus Hotstar after it skipped a theatrical release. Shakti Soundar Rajan has retained the core technical team of Teddy for Captain among whom include cinematographer S Yuva, editor Pradeep E Ragav and lyrics being penned by Madhan Karky. Shakti Soundar Rajan, who has made interesting and ambitious films like NaanayamNaaigal Jaakirathai, Tik Tik Tik, Miruthan and Teddy, will be looking to deliver yet another entertainer for audiences of all ages.
