It was earlier announced that the Arun Vijay starrer Yaanai directed by Hari will hit the screens on 17 June 2022 which marks the first collaboration of the two cousins on a project together. Now, it has been reported that the film will get a theatrical release on 1 July 2022 instead. The reason behind this decision is due to the shortage of screens because of the mega-blockbuster run of Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan starrer Vikram directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film was released on June 3 across 900 screens all over Tamil Nadu and is still holding houseful shows in the cinema halls.

Drumsticks Productions, the banner under which Yaanai is being produced, took to its official Twitter handle to announce this change. Sharing a picture of Arun Vijay with Kamal Haasan, they also attached a caption to it that read, "With all due respect to #Vikram we are postponing our #Yaanai worldwide release to July 1st. Wishing @ikamalhaasan sir @Dir_Lokesh and @RKFI for the record breaking success - Team Yaanai. #YaanaiFromJuly1st"

Arun Vijay, Hari, and the team of Yaanai have been promoting the film by visiting theaters and fans across locations. They are addressing the press and media in Hyderabad as the dubbed Telugu version of the film, titled Enugu, is also slated to release simultaneously along with the Tamil version.

The film's music is scored by G.V. Prakash Kumar. The trailer of the film was launched by Sivakarthikeyan a few weeks back and has generated a positive response from the fans which in turn has resulted in creating a huge buzz for the film. The rural entertainer also has a stellar star cast that includes Priya Bhavani Shankar as the female lead, Samuthirakani, Yogi Babu, Ammu Abirami, KGF Ramachandra Raju, Radhika Sarathkumar, Aadukalam Jayapalan, Imman Annachi, Rajesh, Aishwarya, Bose Venkat, Sanjeev, and Pugazh.
