Renowned director Vishnuvaradan who has given Ajith superhit blockbuster films like Billa and Aarambam is now marking his debut in Bollywood with Shershaah. The movies is based on the true story of Kargil War hero Vikram Batra, starring the handsome hunk Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani, who played Sakshi Singh in Dhoni's biopic.

The first day of shooting for Shershaah commenced on 7th May with the presence of Lt. Gen Y.K. Joshi (then Lt. Col) & Commanding Officer of 13 JAK Rifles during Kargil War 1999 and Vishal Batra, brother of Vikram Batra. Shershaah is based on the life of Captain Vikram Batra, an officer of the Indian Army who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his actions during the 1999 Kargil War, in Kashmir between India and Pakistan.

Captain Vikram Batra led one of the toughest operations in mountain warfare in Indian history. He was often referred to as "Sher Shah" in the intercepted messages of the Pakistan Army. Shershaah is produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Shabbir Boxwala, Ajay Singh and Himanshu Ghandi.
