Music director A.R.Rahman's ambitious project, 99 Songs is finally all set for its release. Yes! This musical love story is announced to release in theatres across the country on April 16. The release date announcement was made by A.R.Rahman who took to his official social media page to share a new poster. Talking about the release, Rahman tweeted, "Happy to share that #99Songs will release on April 16, 2021, in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Directed by @vishweshk and featuring the talented actors @itsEhanBhat & #EdilsyVargas. @jiostudios @YM_Movies @idealentinc @JioCinema".

99 Songs marks A.R.Rahman's debut as a writer and his fans and film buffs are eagerly waiting to witness the writer inside the legendary composer. Rahman has always been ambitious and positive about 99 Songs and let us hope that the film becomes a good success at the box office. The film is directed by debutant Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy, who has earlier directed a few popular ad commercials. The world premiere of 99 Songs happened at the 24th Busan International Film Festival and the film was screened in the Open Cinema category. The film received a good reception from the audience. It is now time for us to witness the film. The music album of 99 Songs is already a big hit among Rahman's fans and music lovers.

Newcomers Ehan Bhat and Edilsy Vargas play the main leads in this film, that also has Tenzin Dalha, Manisha Koirala, Aditya Seal, Lisa Ray, Thomson Andrews, Ranjit Barot, Rahul Ram, Remo Fernandes, Ashwath Bhatt, Kurush Deboo, and others in supporting roles. After auditioning around 1000 budding actors, the makers finalised Ehan Bhat and Edilsy Vargas as the main lead pair and the film is expected to give them the initial breakthrough. Talking about the casting, Rahman had earlier wrote on his official Facebook page, "For the past couple of years, we have taken the time necessary to hold around a 1,000 auditions so that we could find the right boy and girl. I think we have found those special people who have brought freshness and talent to the screen".

99 Songs will release in three languages - Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. The film will be released on wide number of screens by Jio Studios, who has acquired the theatrical distribution rights of the film. Apart from composing music and writing the story of the film, Rahman has also produced it under the banner of YM Movies. The film's cinematography has been handled by Tanay Satam and James Cowley, while the editing has been done by Akshay Mehta and Shreyas Beltangdy.
