Legendary music director AR Rahman will be making his debut as a story writer and producer through the upcoming musical drama, 99 Songs. Rahman's ardent fans and film buffs have been eagerly waiting for this film ever since the project was officially announced and it has been quite a long wait. The film will finally release in theatres on April 16 and ahead of the release, the makers have now unveiled the trailer of the movie. The trailer takes us through the journey of the lead protagonist (played by debutant Ehan Bhatt) and his struggles to become a successful musician. The trailer shows good promise and it has been packed neatly. Debut actors Ehan Bhat and Edilsy Vargas garner good attention and they couldn't have asked for a better launch pad than this.

The film is directed by popular ad filmmaker Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy and he seems to have done a fair job in executing the content from paper to screen. The shots look neat and we see a lot of drama happening in the trailer. The video does create a curiosity among us and let us see what the film has in store. Rahman's score in the trailer is outstanding and the legendary composer elevates the mood of the trailer to a different level. His work is definitely going to be the USP of 99 Songs. Rahman has had a very inspiring journey in his real life and he must have surely taken references from his real life for the story of 99 Songs.

Rahman and his team have travelled for quite some time with this movie and their work is evident through the trailer. Apart from the debut lead actors, the film's star cast also includes Tenzin Dalha, Aditya Seal, Lisa Ray, Manisha Koirala, Thomson Andrews, Ranjit Barot, Remo Fernandes, Ashwath Bhatt, Kurush Deboo, and others. The film has cinematography handled by Tanay Satam and James Cowley, while the editing is done by Akshay Mehta and Shreyas Beltangdy. Produced by AR Rahman's YM Movies, in association with Ideal Entertainment, the film will have its release in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.
