In one of our recent interviews, director Venkat Prabhu had told us that his long-pending film was supposed to release for Summer 2020 but got pushed due to corona pandemic and it will release soon after the theatres re-open. He also added that if the situation doesn’t get any better, then the producer might think about releasing the film directly on OTT platform. This statement of Venkat Prabhu created a big rumour stating that Party will release directly on OTT. Now the producer of the film Amma Creations T Siva has given a clarification statement for this - “We noticed that a section of media is carrying news about our upcoming project " Party ” will skip theatrical release and will have a direct OTT release.  We deny such buzzes to be baseless rumours as we don’t have such plans. We express our pain and anguish for this episode and would like to bring to the notice of everyone that the production house will make an official announcement regarding the movie release at the right time. Hence, we request not to spread any rumours. We are looking out for theatrical release.”

Venkat Prabhu’s long-pending film Party is a multi-starrer film entirely filmed in Fiji Islands. It’s a casino-based comedy film produced by T Siva under his production banner Amma Creations. The film was supposed to release in 2018 but was postponed due to undisclosed financial reasons. Regarding Party’s release, Venkat Prabhu had earlier said to Galatta - “Producer Siva sir is planning to release the film on theatre and not directly on OTT. Actually, the film was planned to hit the screens for Summer 2020 but because of this COVID-19 pandemic, the film’s release got postponed. The film is ready to release, the copy is ready. Party is a pakka theatre film, a film that you can go with your friends and have a treat. Siva sir is trying his best to release the film as soon as possible. But if this theatre lockdown gets extended even further, then I think, he might think of other options like direct OTT release. Let’s see.”
