Award-winning actress Kalpana (51) passed away due to a heart attack at a hotel in Hyderabad during early hours on Monday. She was in the city to shoot for a Telugu film. Kalapana is known for her timely comic sense and doing a variety of roles. She had bagged the National Award for the Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Thanichalla Njaan.
In Tamil, the award-winning actress has done a variety of roles like K.Bhagyaraj's hit movie Chinna Veedu, Kamal Haasan's Sathi Leelavathi and Pammal K. Sambandam. Her latest release Charlie is still going strong in theatres. In Tamil, she was last seen as Sivakarthikeyan's mother in Khaki Sattai.
She is survived by her actor-sister Urvashi.
