After the compelling posters and the eye-opening teaser of Dasvi, the audience was left hanging with their expectations. "Passing Class 10 from jail is my right to education", read the tagline on his poster. But it seems that these expectations are met...for now. Starring Abhishek Bachchan, Yami Gautam and Nimrat Kaur in lead roles, the social comedy is written by Ritesh Shah and directed by newcomer Tushar Jalota who will be making his Bollywood debut with these A-list actors. The film is jointly produced by Dinesh Vijan under his banner Maddock Films in collaboration with Jio Studios. Dasvi will skip its theatrical release and will instead premiere simultaneously on two OTT platforms namely Jio Cinema and Netflix on April 7.

The trailer for the film just dropped and it looks ravishing. It is evident from the trailer that Abhishek plays the role of an uneducated politician, Ganga Ram Chaudhary, while Yami plays the role of an IPS officer, Jyoti Deswal and Nimrat Kaur will be playing Chaudhary's wife and a chief minister, Bimla Devi Chaudhary. The film seems to revolve around the concept of an incarcerated Chief Minister, attempting to clear his tenth standard board exams, a long-cherished dream that is ignited due to some unmentioned factors. Abhishek Bachchan, Yami Gautam and Nimrat Kaur have absolutely nailed their Haryanvi character and accent and we cannot wait to watch them in action in the movie rather than just glimpses of them in the trailer.

It will be the first time Bachchan is going to share screen space with either of the female leads. Dasvi will mark Nimrat's return to Bollywood five years after Airlift which was released way back in 2016. Yami Gautam's last film before this was the thriller film A Thursday while Abhishek Bachchan's was Bob Biswas (2021). He is currently working on the Hindi remake of the critically acclaimed Tamil movie Oththa Seruppu Size 7 which will be directed by R. Parthiban.
