Aarumugam music review!

Aarumugam with Bharath and Priyamani in the lead is directed by Suresh Krissna and produced by Chida Shenbagakumar under the banner Kool productions. Aarumugam album, marketed by Think Music, comes as a whiff of fresh airwith Thenisai Thendral Deva’s music.

The album begins with the title number ‘Aarumugam’ in Deva and Shankar Mahadevan’s combination of voices. The unusual combination in the singing itself adds an inevitable charm to the number. For the next song ‘Oru Poongaatru’ that is rich in lyrical content, Shankar Mahadevan joins‘Jai Ho’ lady Mahalakshmi Iyer. The song and its lyrics are indeed touching. ‘Rendu Rendu’ in Suraj and Madhushree’s voices has a modern touch in its tune. Sadhana Sargam and Hariharan jointly render ‘Yamini’. The classically-tuned number brings out the appealing nuances in both the eminent singers’ voices to the fore. ‘Endhan Rajadhi’ is again by Mahalakshmi Iyer. Similar to her earlier number, this one too portrays a sad feel. 'Salona', the closing number in the peppy album, is sung by Sonu Karkkak and Udit Narayan. The song hasthe usual Udit Narayan style punches in the Tamil pronunciation; yet the fast-paced tunemakes the listeners groove.

Thanks to composer Deva, Aarumugam album indeed brings back the old-world charm.
