A.R. Rahman's water conservation message

Twin Oscar winner A.R. Rahman has indeed charmed the whole world. He is currently working with some of the biggest names in international music and at the same time, doing his bit for the betterment of the world.

Following his anti-poverty anthem for the UN, the Mozart of Madras is now joining the likes of U2 and Shakira for a global video on water conservation. The video was shot in Filmistan Studios recently. This music video will be aired worldwide through the Internet. The 120 minute webcast is titled 'Moving Stars And Earth For Water' and will also feature U2, Peter Gabriel and Shakira.

Rahman's 3.40-minute music video is based on the musical track 'Vellai Pookal' penned by Vairamuthu, from the movie Kannathil Mutthamittal. This Mani Ratnam classic had won Rahman the National Award. The movie was had a back drop of Sri Lankan Tamils. It would be interesting to see how Rahman uses the track for this campaign.

The 'Moving Stars And Earth For Water' video is pioneered by the Canadian foundation One Drop and it hopes to raise worldwide awareness on water conservation.

Since his Oscar win, Rahman has become an international name to reckon with. He is working on the music for a Hollywood film Couples Retreat. How Rahman attunes himself to a completely American film will be worth waiting for.
