He may have won a double Oscars, but it is his modesty that makes him stand apart. Mozart of Madras A.R. Rahman has apparently worked free for his debut Kannada film God Father, which is a remake of the Tamil hit Varalaaru (for which Rahman had scored the music).

Earlier, it was stated that A.R. Rahman will retain the songs from the Tamil version of the movie for God Father. But, now, it has been confirmed that the Oscar Award winner will compose some fresh tunes for the remake version retaining only some tunes from the original version.

Confirming the news, the producer of the film, K Manju, said to a leading daily, "Rahman did not charge a penny for the film. You can say he did it for free as he didn't charge anything for himself. He charged, approximately a crore, only for the studio, artists, instruments, recording and re-recording of the film."

Upendra plays the male lead in the movie. The movie also stars Soundarya, Catherine Tresa and Bhumika Chawla in important roles. Sriram directs the movie, while K.Manju produces it.
