The gorgeous looking diva Sridevi celebrates her 50th birthday today. Born on August 13, 1963, she was one of the most prominent actresses of the 80's & 90's and still has a huge fan following from South to B-town. She was one of the most celebrated actresses in South India, and later ventured into Hindi films, making a special name for herself. She was introduced in Kandhan Karunai (Tamil) as a child actor, and then went on to spread her innocent charm in many Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam movies.
K. Balachander, who is credited with discovering many legendary actors, cast Sridevi in Moondru Mudichu as the leading lady in 1976, opposite Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth. In Tamil movies, she has starred in the most number of movies opposite Kamal Haasan. She reigned over the South Indian film firmament from 1979 to 1983. Though most of her movies were in Tamil, she also acted with all the top heroes in the Telugu industry. After Kamal Haasan, Sridevi has acted the most number of movies with Krishna. Then came Himmatwala in 1983 and Sridevi was elevated from a regional star status to becoming the reigning queen of Bollywood in a very short span of time.
Later, she had not time for other language film as she has back-to-back hits with top heroes in Bollywood. She was a successful person in her personal life too, after getting married to producer Boney Kapoor she retired from films and was a perfect mom for her two daughter Jhanvi and Khushi. After 15 long years, she made her comeback to films with English Vinglish last year. This became a world wide hit. We hope she would announces her next project soon.
