Podhuvaga Emmanasu Thangam Movie Review

Director Thalapathy Prabhu seems to have made a decision to come out with a complete commercial entertainer that is tailor made to audiences from South Tamil Nadu. If you have enjoyed roaming in the villages and the nativity feel it has to offer, the film will feel right at home.

Podhuvaga Emmanasu Thangam pits Udhayanidhi Stalin in a new canvas of a young village guy who with his friend Soori tries to help those in need. This time around, he brings Parthiban in to add strength to the movie and he does effortlessly. The story is a simple and familiar one about two villages that share a long standing problem. Parthiban who got insulted in Udhayanidhi’s village wants to get revenge but it is up to the savior to save his people from the bad guy.

Udhayanidhi came up with a very unique movie like Manithan but when you are going for Podhuvaga Emmanasu Thangam, make sure you don’t expect such level of script or story telling. It’s a safe commercial entertainer filled with lots of comedy throughout the run time. The punch dialogs between Soori and Parthiban is easily to make everyone laugh in theaters. Producers Sri Thenandal Films had bet on the fun aspect and it works very well.

Newcomer Nivetha Pethuraj does the solo heroine for the first time and she looks gracefully good on screen. The song sequences and whenever she comes on screen in traditional village attire, Nivetha can woo youngsters yet again.

Parthiban’s seasoned performance and dialog delivery in a negative role makes it all the more fun. Put him against Soori, Rajendran, Mayilsamy among a hoard of other cast members, you get a mixed potpuri of great humor at every alternative scene. Music director D Imman did an amazing melody in Udhayanidhi’s previous film Saravanan Irukka Bayamaen and this time he has tried to recreate the magic to a certain extent.

Melodious songs like Yennanu Solveno and Singakutty are fun to watch on screen because of choreography and the camera work. The background score is done to perfection. The biggest plus for director Thalapathy Prabhu is his technical team. The colourful and vibrant cinematography by Balasubramaniam will engage audience on a new level as it creates positive vibes all over.

The commercial route is a good choice by the director and the hero but the screenplay lags at times which has been fixed with the help of comical one liners. A lot of predictable scenes will be found in Podhuvaga Emmanasu Thangam which is nevertheless a fun experience that is clean, comedic and a good choice for the entire family.
