Kuttram 23 Movie Review

Arun Vijay plays Vetrimaaran, a fierce cop, who takes his job seriously. He is that police who is stylish, intelligent and hard working. A murder of a leading television channel owner’s wife happens in the city and Vetrimaaran is deployed to investigate it. Half-way through the investigation, Vetri unravels an illegal practice happening in the medical field. Why the owner’s wife was brutally murdered? What is the illegal practice in the medical field? How does Vetrimaaran put a full-stop to it form the crux of the story.

THUMBS UP

Arun Vijay has yet again proved that he is one of the best versatile performers in the industry. After playing the menacing villain role in Yennai Arindhaal, this film is a total contrast.

Since the story is adapted from a crime novelist Rajesh Kumar’s work, the writing is solid. Arivazhagan’s detailing has enhanced the script and has managed to keep the viewers engrossed from the start to the end.

Dialogues are an added advantage to the script. The director has brought the dark side of the medical field to the limelight. Audiences will be able to connect with the script easily. For example, the dialogue in which the difference between medical science and medical crime is explained a beautiful manner.

Abhinaya and Thambi Ramaiah’s performance definitely needs a mention.

Another notable factor in Kuttram 23 is Vishal Chandrashekhar’s background score and the songs. The album, on the whole, will linger in your mind for a long time to come.

THUMBS DOWN

Even though Mahima Nambiar’s character is different from the clichéd heroine roles in Tamil cinemas, she could have been used in a better way.

VERDICT:

An intelligent crime-thriller that is a must-watch for the society.

Verdict: An intelligent crime-thriller that is a must-watch for the society.
