Thalaivi with Kangana Ranaut starts rolling - leading Tamil actor onboard!
Around three to four biopics of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, J Jayalalitha, are planned to be made by different filmmakers in Tamil cinema. One among the lot happens to be Thalaivi, directed by Vijay and produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shaailesh R Singh under the banner of Vibri Media. This film will be made in three languagegs, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. The principal photography of this biopic drama began yesterday (November 10). As already known, Kangana Ranaut will be playing the titular character as Thalaivi aka Jayalalitha, while Arvind Swami plays the male lead.
The CCV actor is said to play the role of former Chief Minister and legendary actor, M.G.Ramachandran (MGR). The rest of the cast are yet to be known and an official announcement will be made soon. G.V.Prakash Kumar will compose the tunes and the background score of Thalaivi. GV has a good success ratio with Vijay and we can hope for the streak to continue with Thalaivi as well.
Nirav Shah was initially signed as the cinematographer of the film, but he is now replaced by DoP Vishal Vittal, since Nirav is already committed to Mysskin's Thupparivaalan 2, for which the shooting is happening at London. Legendary writer Vijayendra Prasad has penned the film's screenplay while lyricist and writer Madhan Karky has written the Tamil dialogues for the film. Thalaivi will have editing by Anthony and stunts choreographed by Stunt Silva. Check out the announcement tweet of Thalaivi below:
