Mohanlal, highest paid actor!

Superstar Mohanlal has become the highest paid Malayalam actor in the history of Malayalam cinema with a pay cheque of Rs. 4 crore for his new film Nair Chan to be directed by Albert.

Mohanlal has given 125 days call sheet for this Indo-Japanese project in which Hollywood superstar Jackie Chan will also star in the other lead role. Jackie Chan has 12 days of work in the movie and will make Rs 30 crores from the film.

Produced by a Middle Eastern production company, Morphous group, the movie is based on the life history of Ayyappan Pillai Madhavan Nair, who was known as Nair San in Japan.

Earlier, Mohanlal received a record payment of Rs. 1.25 crores for the first time in the history of Mollywood, when he signed to act in College Kumaran directed by Tulasidas. When Tulasidas offered this amount to Mohanlal who normally gets around Rs.60-80 lakhs per film, it had become the cause for a big dispute in the industry last year. Some of the producers objected to such a 'huge' amount given to the actor. They even complained to the Malayalam film producers' council that it would pave the way for other actors like Mammootty and Dileep making similar demands for acting in their films.
