Malayalam heartthrob Tovino Thomas has sharply reacted to criticisms that he had participated in rescue operations during the Kerala floods as part of promotions for his upcoming movie.
"I took part in rescue operations as I believe in humanity. I was just one among lakhs of volunteers who saved lives. Do you think they also had film releases?'', asked Tovino. The actor had carried out rescue operations at his home town, Irinjalakuda.
"I had gone to a relief camp to deliver food. I learnt from the people at the camp that many people were stranded in their homes, then I realised that I should do something to help the affected," said the actor. He said, it is very common to criticise those who have attained fame in society. "This is a universal truth, and I believe cinema too works on this principle," said Tovino.
