Kanchivaram wins top honour

Ace director Priyadarshan will now be conferred with the Best director award at the annual film festival organised by the Puducherry Government in association with the Navadharshan Film Society for his brilliant movie�Kanchivaram.

The award, named after Sri Sankardass Swamigal, comprises a memento and cash prize of Rs. 50,000. Kanchivaram won the appreciation of film critics and was screened at almost all major film festivals around the world.

The awards for excellence in Indian cinema will be given away by the Chief Minister of Puducherry V. Vaithialingam. Kanchivaram,�with Prakashraj, Shammu and Shriya Reddy in the lead roles, was well-received by the audience.
