Independence Day: Celebrate the colours of freedom with us
Galatta.com wishes all its visitors a very happy Independence day. Today is the day when every Indian join hands with his neighbours, irrespective of religion, caste and class, to celebrate the spirit of our tricolour. August 15th is a day when Indians stand with their heads held high and remember the sacrifices of the martyrs.
On this very day 64 years ago, India tasted the joy of freedom after more than 100 years of sufferance and suppression under the British Empire. What had been a rich prosperous land, thriving in culture and wealth, was plundered by the over-ambitious English, and it took a lot of bloodshed, struggle and will power to win back what was rightfully ours – OUR INDEPENDENCE.
