Ever since�Gemini Film Circuit bought the remake rights (in Telugu and Tamil) of 3 Idiots from Vidhu Vinodh Chopra, there is a widespread anticipation about the lead roles.
Some sources claim the the producers are trying to rope in Pawan Kalyan to play Aamir Khan's role in the Telugu remake version, while some earlier sources said Mahesh Babu would bag the role.
In Kollywood, rumours suggest that many top heroes in the South, including Madhavan and Vijay, are interested in being�part of the remake. Madhavan has already made it clear that he is open to reprise his role in Tamil as well.
Suriya was rumoured to enact Aamir Khan’s role, but sources close to him say he may not do the role as he has no free dates in the near future.
3 Idiots is the highest grossing Hindi film in Tamil Nadu, where it has managed to gross a record Rs. 1.65 crore from 22 screens in its very first week. National wide, the film is said to have grossed about Rs. 240 crore in just 10 days.
This Rajkumar Hirani movie is currently in the thick of a controversy with author Chetan Bhagat claiming 3 Idiots is heavily inspired from his book Five Point Someone and that he has not been given due credit by the filmmakers.
