The first look poster of the much awaited Vijay-starrer is out and it has been trending on every social media platform from the time it was revealed. It started trending in the Top 10 almost immediately and by eight minutes, the tweet from Vijay had over 39,000 views and fans have been going crazy online, deducing what they can from the poster and exchanging theories. We too have been waiting all week and have our own assumptions based on the first-look poster of Bigil.

For one, the movie name - Bigil - had come out earlier as the name of one of the characters. While one of the characters is probably called Michael, the other would be Bigil. The story may revolve around a legacy passed on from a father to son. Bigil means 'whistle' in Tamil; young Vijay has a football with the logo of the English Premier League Club - Manchester United, on it. The jersey also has the logo of the TN Football Association. There is a watermark of a football field on the movie's name and young Vijay's ambition and possibly - ehm - GOALS - are evident.

The father looks enigmatic and his character may have more shades than what meets the eye. The old man surely has seen some serious stuff in life - he has a weather-beaten face and cataract-shot eyes, but there is also a sense of authority around him which tells us he is a pillar of his community. The background of the poster is a fish market - complete with a fish load container marked SAN-CH - probably standing for the 'point of packaging'. It is safe to assume that the charismatic father is part of the north Madras fishing community. Though rumours had it that the father's name is Michael, the first look has him wearing kungumam on his forehead. Another interesting point is that both the son and the father seem to have a birthmark/scar on their right legs. While the father - seated with his leg resting on a cutting block - has the mark on his shin, the son seems to have it on his knee. It may be a birthmark that they both share, or maybe football injuries. But this may mean that the father also has a football background: we aren't sure yet.

The first look poster is also our first confirmation that Vijay indeed has double roles in the movie. This is also the point where we unashamedly declare, "We told you so!", as we had called it earlier on. Galatta had also reported that Vijay would be using a jersey numbered 5 and this has come true with the younger Vijay sporting the same number on his jersey in the first look poster!

Produced by Archana Kalpathi under the banner of AGS Entertainment, this film is Atlee's third collaboration with Vijay after Theri and Mersal. Nayanthara is the female lead and the music is composed by AR Rahman. The second look of the movie is coming out at 12 am, on Saturday. Stay tuned for updates...
