P.H. Vishwanath’s children’s film

P.H. Vishwanath, a prominent Kannada director, is returning to the silver screen with a children’s film, Kinnara Bale. The film is based on ‘Annichcha’, one of the chapters in a novel written by Janaki Sundaresan. In the past four years, Vishawanth has done only a few documentaries and has been keeping away from the limelight.

In the early days, P.H.V. worked as assistant director in Dharmasere, Ranganayaki and Manasa Sarovara directed by Puttanna Kanagal and then in the camp of T.S. Nagabharana. Later he ventured into independent film direction; his Panchamaveda, which was released in 1989, bagged 3 state awards. Another film Aragini, based on the devadasi system, also bagged several state awards.

Kinnara Bale will go on the floors in February and the first shooting schedule will be in Bhatkal.
