The Sandalwood industry is all set to remake the Tamil movie Kanchana that had Raghava Lawrence and Lakshmi Rai in the lead roles. Titled Kalpana, the remake will be directed by veteran Tamil director Ramanarayanan.
Upendra will play the lead role in the movie. His costars include Saikumar, Lakshmi Rai, Shobaraj and Sadhu Kokila. There will be equal proportions of horror and humour in the movie as in the original. Kalpana is the 125th directorial venture of Ramanarayanan and his 10th Kannada movie.
Ramanarayanan said in a press meet that he was proud to direct a star like Upendra and said that Kalpana would have 40 days of straight shooting schedule that would start from Dec 21. Harikrishna scores the music. The movie will have five songs.
The movie is expected to hit the screens in the first half of 2012.
