Sudipto Balav: Latest villain in Sandalwood

Sudipto Balav, who shot to fame through the Malayalam film 2 Hariharnagar, is now the latest villain in Kannada films. Veera Parampare, directed by S. Narayan, with Sudeep and Aindrita Ray in the lead, is Sudipto's first Kannada film and is likely to release in October. Soon after doing Veera Parampare, Sudipto has signed three more Kannada films. These are Yaakssha by Ramesh Bhagawat,Mallikarjun by Murali Mohan and an untitled film starring Komal. So Sudipto has become the upcoming villain in Sandalwood.

 He also has a role in an untitled bilingual (Malayalam and Tamil). Sudipto has an important in Tere Bin Laden (Hindi) and also has two more Hindi films (Bhanwara by Dharmesh Darshan and Dhuaan by Dr. Mrinalini Patil) awaiting release. Sudipto says, "It is very strange; till 2008 all the characters I had played in Hindi and Bengali films and also on TV were comic, but it was eminent Malayalam film director Lal who first introduced me as solo villain in 2 Hariharnagar and changed my future." 2 Hariharnagar became a blockbuster in Mollywood and Sudipto became a villain in South Indian films. Sudipto says he believes negative roles in any film are multidimensional and very interesting. It is challenging to portray different layers of human behaviour. Talking about his experience working in his debut Kannada film, Veera Parampare, Sudipto says, "It was a wonderful experience. I was a bit nervous with the language but Narayan sir made things absolutely easy for me; my co actors Sudeep and Ambarish Sir were also extremely co-operative."
