Mythriya arrested, producers condemn her action

Actress Mythriya, who recently made a comeback with the Santhosh starrer Maalinga, is in the news for the wrong reasons. The actress attacked a traffic constable near West of Chord road and has been arrested by the Basaveshwaranagar police.

Mythriya, her sister and two other ladies were travelling in a car near West of Chord road to attend a friend's marriage. The actress, who was travelling at high speed, was stopped by traffic police constable Shivakumar for jumping a traffic signal. When interrogated, Mythriya argued with the police and even slapped him.

While Mythriya said that she slapped the police constable only because he misbehaved with her, Shivakumar challenged this version, saying, "I just stopped the car, Mythriya got upset and attacked me for no reason. Later the other lady occupants of the car also attacked me, I was injured and had to be admitted to hospital."

Right now, the actress has been detained in the Basaveshwaranagar Police station. Many Kannada movie producers and industry personalities have condemned Mythriya hitting a policeman on duty. KFCC Secretary and producer A. Ganesh says any person who misbehaves with the police should be severely punished. Film personalities should realize that their popularity will not help them to escape after doing anything illegal and they are not above the law.

Producer M.G. Ramurthy said, "Police are doing their duty. We have to obey the traffic rules. Even if we make some mistake there is a way how we have to behave and obey the rules. But hitting a police person who is on duty should be condemned by one and all."
