Archana crosses sword with Dayal

Dayal Padmanbhan’s Circus has been submerged in controversy since its launch. Dayal was accused and found guilty of stealing the story from S. Mahendar. Now, months after the release ofCircus, heroine Archana Gupta has come with the statement that she has not been paid the full amount which is due. “Dayal still owes me Rs. 50,000. It was his choice not to give it to me,” shereportedly said.

Now director-producer Dayalgives his version of the story. “I was shocked when I read about it. I don’t owe Archana any money. Instead, it was she who kept pestering me to pay her an extra amount, besides her remuneration. When Archana signed Circus, she had agreed to do the film for Rs. 2.5 lakh, which was also written in the agreement. She was fine with it even when we were shooting the film. It’s only when the movie was nearing completion and had to shoot for an additional six days that she began making some unreasonable demands,” Dayal says. He also says that Archana threatened that unless he paid Rs. 25000 each for the extra six days, she would not report for shooting. She was demanding 1.5 lakhs extra and since she was adamant he agreed to pay her Rs. 50000.

Dayal also has stories of Archana making him pay more money in terms of costumes and make up.
